About OHM's Law Apparatus
The Ohm's Law Apparatus (SE.EM1464-01) provides a hands-on introduction to one of electricity's foundational principles. The self-contained wooden enclosure brings together all key circuit components on a single panel, allowing students to observe the direct relationship between voltage, current and resistance without complex wiring or setup.
A built-in rheostat lets the teacher or student vary current flow in real time. As the rheostat is adjusted, both the milliammeter and voltmeter readings change, making the proportional relationship immediately visible. By recording pairs of V and I values at different rheostat settings, students can calculate resistance using R = V / I and confirm that resistance remains constant for a given resistor — demonstrating Ohm's Law empirically.
Key features:
- Milliammeter and voltmeter mounted on a single readable panel
- Rheostat provides smooth, variable current control
- Push key ensures safe, momentary circuit connection
- Circuit diagram printed directly on the panel for reference
- Terminal posts accept standard external battery and resistance connections
Suitable for secondary and senior science classrooms studying electricity, this apparatus supports curriculum requirements around Ohm's Law, series circuits, and the relationship between electrical quantities. Works with a standard dry cell battery (not included) and any suitable resistor or resistance wire.
Ohm's LawVoltage (V) = Current (I) × Resistance (R). Measure any two quantities from the panel to calculate the third.
A self-contained wooden apparatus for demonstrating Ohm's Law in the classroom or laboratory. Students observe directly how voltage, current and resistance interact — reading live values from the panel-mounted milliammeter and voltmeter, then applying V = I × R to verify the relationship.
