The Inertial Balance Kit playfully demonstrates how to determine an object's mass by its vibration frequency, highlighting the distinction between mass and weight. This mechanical apparatus utilizes the principles of inertia to determine the mass of a body. A spring-blade supported platform, attached to one end of the unit, can oscillate horizontally while securely clamped to the edge of a table.
Kit Includes:
- 2 platforms. One clamps to the bench and the other carries the mass and oscillates.
- 2 support blades (spring steel) with screws and wing nuts for assembly to platforms.
- 1 cylindrical heavy mass for hanging in the oscillating platform.
- 1 length of thread to support the mass up from the oscillating platform.
