Let's Talk About Water Distillation Kit & How It Works?

 

 

Water Distillation came along for a long time to purify water for household and commercial uses like scientific and manufacturing purposes. Among boiling water, one method of removing impurities from water and other fluids is distillation. It can effectively remove many contaminants from drinking water, including bacteria, inorganic, and many organic compounds.

 

 As lab equipment the distillation kit has three essential elements:

 

  • Heater (Heating Element): Primary function is heating the water in the boiler to its boiling point.

 

  • Glass Boiler: Contains and boils the water, turning it into steam.

 

  • Condenser (Cooling Element): A glass, copper, or a stainless steel coil of the tube where vapour converts back to a liquid state. 

 

The heating element boils the water to its boiling point, causing the water to evaporate into steam in the boiler; the steam flows towards the cooling element in the form of a condenser that rapidly converts the steam into a highly purified state of water.

 

Inorganic compounds and large non-volatile organic molecules do not evaporate with the water and are left behind in the boiler. The steam then cools and condenses to form purified distilled water.

 

A water distillation kit can provide water with a clarity that is up to 98% free of impurities and effectively removes inorganic compounds such as metals (lead), nitrate, and other nuisance particles such as hardness from a contaminated water supply. The boiling process also kills microorganisms such as bacteria and some viruses. Distillation removes oxygen and some trace metals from water. For this reason, some people claim distilled water tastes flat. Only a few water filtration or treatment systems are available that are capable of delivering total contaminant reduction.

 

A water distillation kit requires no lengthy and involved installation. All you need to do to set up is a stable platform, and merely plug it into an electrical source. After that, fill the boiling chamber and let the distiller purify your water. Automatic units need to be connected to a water source to provide you with filtered water continuously; water distillers are easily some of the simplest water treatment systems to install. 

 

A water distillation kit can provide superior water purity in the lab, home, or office. 

A lab-grade distillation kit takes around 4-6 hours for a water distiller to produce 15 litres of distilled water. Like most high purity water filtration methods, the process of water distillation is a slow one. The water distiller produces purified water one droplet at a time. Over several hours, the water distillers will produce enough droplets to fill up the reservoir with distilled water. 

 

Larger, industrial-grade distillers are usually automatic and capable of producing water much faster. These units can make anywhere from 9-10 litres of distilled water per hour.
