The Photogate U Shaped is a general purpose, featuring a  self-contained light source and photo detector mounted and aligned in a sturdy plastic 'U' frame. It can be easily adapted for use with the IEC Air Track by using available adaptors, allowing gliders to smoothly pass through the standard gates. 

The light source is powered by either 4mm banana sockets or a 240/12V.AC mains adaptor (Plug Pak), conveniently located on the side of the housing. These gates allow for powering the LED and acquiring the signal through a single cable and plug, while the timer can run two gates at once.
